A tour of our house

The entryway is the first thing seen when you step into the house. On the wall we have the crest of Alpha Sigma Tau made of copper. The wooden doors on the right side of this picture lead us to the Living Room. The glass doors shown here lead to the Quiet Room.

The Living Room is a favorite for many sisters because it is very comfortable and has a television set. There is a fireplace on the left side of the room and all of the furniture is new.

The Quiet Room serves as a computer room, backdoor entryway, and a showcase for our trophies. Sisters have won many trophies over the years in different Michigan Tech events, especially Winter Carnival. There is a large rug on the floor which makes this room a comfortable meeting area as well.

Our chapter room is a large room in the back of the house. It also provides plenty of room for sisters to congregate.

The dining room is a beautiful room that sisters use for dining, social dinners, and many other events. It leads to our kitchen, basement, another exit from the house, and has a great view of the ski hill in the winter.

This is our new kitchen! It was remodeled in late February/early March of 2000.

Our stairway, located in the entryway, leads us up to the second floor of the house. The woodwork around the stairway is all original to the house and it has been recarpeted recently.

Our second floor landing leads to several bedrooms, a back hallway, a porch, and our third floor. On the left side of the picture you can see a composite picture of sisters. We keep all of our composites hanging in various parts of the house.

The second floor has a very interesting bathroom due to the historic bathtub it contains - notice the feet at the bottom of the tub.

Most of the walls on first floor are covered with an original canvas which has an intricate green and gold design. The light fixture is also original to the house.

Also original to the house is this is a beautiful chandelier. Behind this light fixture are some shelves in the quiet room.

Here is one of several stained glass windows found throughout the house.

The back of our house was originally the front of the house, which makes the house look nice from both sides.

If you were to look out any window in the back of the house, this is what you will see. The Portage is in view, as well as the Mount Ripley Ski Hill in Hancock, Michigan.

As you drive past our house on College Avenue, and enter the town of Houghton, this is the final picture of our beautiful home. We take great care of this house, making sure to clean it very often. All of us take pride in our house.
